  • The supply-side book grew a name: BWX Technologies entered as the primary candidate for defense reactor-vessel contracts — Navy reactors now, micro-reactors for military grids and data centers next. Ormat stays the geothermal expression on the back of its hyperscaler deal.
  • The thermodynamic-wall thesis was reaffirmed on continued natural-gas and commodity strength: the room expects a hyperscaler acquisition wave for geothermal intellectual property rather than long build-outs.
  • Credit spreads had widened in the week of August 31 — read as the first risk-off shift of the summer. Three optics-and-power names on the Nvidia supply chain were raised without a falsifier: Fabrinet, Semtech, Coherent.
  • Two AI builds were argued: a job-search agent that reads firms' own endpoints before listings go public, and a fashion agent pivoted in the room to a live catalog of what influencers actually wear, monetized by affiliate links.
  • Two decisions entered the docket: the social launch opens with a stock-pick post built on recorded performance; the cross-cultural AI micro-drama series is postponed one month for planning.

What the room argued about

Three attended; the night ran from a $100,000-a-month data feed to a decided content launch, with the nuclear supply chain in the middle.

01

A three-second edge is a cost to this room, not an advantage

The macro open
  • A social-platform API priced at $100,000 a month buys roughly a three-second head start over the terminal on specific securities.
  • That edge is a high-frequency edge: nothing in the desk's process needs to be three seconds faster, so for a retail book the feed is a cost line, not a source of return.
Room status · Agreed — speed is somebody else's business; the room's edge is selection and patience.
02

Reactor vessels are the nuclear tollbooth, and BWXT is the forge

The prepared thesis of the night · position entered
  • BWX Technologies is the primary candidate for defense small-modular-reactor vessel contracts, the incumbent on Navy reactors, and the micro-reactor supplier for military grids and data centers — the position was entered in the week of August 31.
  • Ormat stays the geothermal base-load expression after its hyperscaler deal — the first public demand signal for the off-grid compute thesis.
  • The thermodynamic wall was reaffirmed on continued natural-gas and commodity strength; the room expects a hyperscaler M&A wave for geothermal IP rather than long build-outs.
Room status · Agreed — both names go to the board with their falsifiers; research continues as long-term positions.
03

Credit widened first, and the optics chain was named without a falsifier

Markets thread
  • Credit spreads widened in the week of August 31 — read as the first risk-off shift of the summer, before the September rate move made it obvious.
  • Three names on the Nvidia supply chain: Fabrinet (optics and photonics, capacity bought out by Nvidia), Semtech (power-saving silicon aligned to Nvidia's efficiency requirements), Coherent (unique laser materials; a long-term acquisition target). None came with a failure condition, so none goes to the board yet.
04

Read the source, not the feed: the job agent beats the paid API at zero cost

AI builds
  • A job-search agent that calls firms' own API endpoints surfaces listings before they reach the public platforms — the same pattern as the paid feed in thread 01, at zero cost.
  • Tooling reads: Cursor over the terminal for the workflow; a task-based model router; public benchmarks judged unreliable against qualitative performance; Gemini and GPT read as higher-EQ and more agreeable, Claude as the one that pushes back; Gemini kept for fast searches.
Room status · Agreed — share the endpoint list; the aggregator gets an evaluation feature.
05

Fit cannot be simulated, but the catalog of real choices can be built

Product thread
  • The pitch: an agent that cuts search friction by matching a wearer to influencers with the same body type and taste, with Apple Health feeding material choices by thermal regulation.
  • The room's objection: simulating garment fit without precise measurements does not work — the pivot proposed in the room is a live catalog of what influencers and celebrities actually wear, monetized by affiliate links.
  • The long-term asset named either way: real human aesthetic-decision data — the thing no model has.
Room status · Not converged — the asset is agreed, the product is not; the prototype decides.
06

The launch opens with a pick post; the dramas wait a month

The decisions of the night
  • The social launch opens with a stock-pick post built on pre-recorded performance data — the receipts first, the personality second.
  • The AI micro-drama series — three-minute episodes tailored by market (India, South Korea, China), roughly $50 an episode to produce, YouTube and Facebook Shorts first — is postponed one month for planning; Korean-audience and Chinese-market versions come first.
Room status · Agreed — two decisions, both dated: the pick post leads, the dramas wait a month.

Takeaway

Read the source, not the feed. The three-second data edge costs $100,000 a month and belongs to machines; the job agent that reads a firm's own endpoint costs nothing and belongs to whoever builds it first. The same rule graded the fashion pitch — the model cannot see the fit, but the catalog of real choices is data nobody else holds — and it is why the desk's calls settle on the first official print and never on a revision.

未決問題

尚未定論的問題

Can a model simulate fit?
The agent needs measurements the phone does not have; the catalog does not need the model. Left standing on purpose — the prototype decides.
Is a three-second edge worth anything to this room?
The room said no for itself and yes for the machines that buy it. Nobody attached a trade.
Do the optics names survive a falsifier?
Fabrinet, Semtech and Coherent were raised on the Nvidia chain without one. The board rule holds: no falsifier, no grade — the first stated failure condition is the scored test.

SEPTEMBER 6, 2011

Unlimited francs held the Swiss floor for three years, then it broke in a morning

On September 6, 2011, the Swiss National Bank declared it would not tolerate a euro below CHF 1.20 and would buy foreign currency in unlimited quantities. Investors fleeing the euro crisis had pushed the franc up nearly 20% since January, and it fell 8.5% that day to sit on the new floor. Defending against strength, the SNB could create francs without limit, and its balance sheet reached CHF 561.2 billion by the end of 2014. On January 15, 2015, it abruptly dropped the floor, the euro fell as much as 30% against the franc and Swiss stocks lost 9%.

A peg backed by unlimited money creation can hold for years, but its end tends to arrive as a single gap that no exit can catch.
